What is xenical?
Xenical is Roche's original listate preparation in the higher prescription dosage of 120 mg. It inhibits fat absorption in the intestine and thus supports weight reduction.
Compared to the 60-mg version (Alli), Xenical blocks more fat and leads to stronger weight loss.
Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action
Active ingredient: Orlistat 120 mg
Xenical inhibits gastrointestinal lipases and thus prevents the absorption of about 30% of the food fat.
Who is it suitable for?
Adults with BMI ≥ 30 or BMI ≥ 28 with accompanying diseases, as a supplement to diet and exercise.
Available Dosages
120 mg, 3x daily at the main meal times.
How to Take
A capsule before, during or until 1 hour after any fat-containing meal.
Contraindications
Malabsorption, cholesterol, pregnancy, certain drugs.
Possible Side Effects
Fatty chairs, chair urges, bloating – especially in fat-rich diet.
