Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action
Active ingredient: Minoxidil
Regaine contains the active substance minoxidil whose action is based on several mechanisms:
Improved blood circulation: Minoxidil extends the small blood vessels in the scalp. The hair follicles are better supplied with nutrients and oxygen.
Prolongation of growth phase: The hair passes through three phases: growth (anages), transition (catagen) and rest (teachers). Minoxidil extends the growth phase and shortens the resting phase.
Stimulation of follicles: Minoxidil activates ion channels in the cells of the hair root and thus promotes hair growth.
